| Ins and Outs about living in The Hague |
Locals consider Restaurant Watertanden a striking and different restaurant on the block. Watertanden (Mouth-watering) is located in De Mallemolen, one of The Hague’s nicest streets. This hip restaurant serves affordable dishes from the Mediterranean cuisine, served by young and informal staff. Watertanden is open seven days per week.
Deliciously different
In the restaurant, which opened last year, everything is just a little different. The interior is unique and only recycled materials have been used. In the coat racks you will recognize the handlebars of old bicycles, while the tables are pieces of jigsaw puzzles, painted by artists. You eat from plates of which no two are the same. The kitchen is hidden behind an old stained-glass divider. The bar, you cannot fail to notice, is built mainly from empty bottles.
Surprising simplicity
The menu changes regularly and lists familiar as well as forgotten regional dishes from Italy, Spain and France. The wine list is surprisingly versatile and features wines which are a suitable accompaniment to the various dishes. The coffee is 100% Arabica and is ground the Italian way.
