| Ins and Outs about living in The Hague |
The Van Kinderen Museum (Children’s Museum) focuses exclusively on children. This new museum recently opened on Waldeck Pyrmontkade. Children are not visitors of this museum, but users. They can give their creativity free reign here. Their ideas on art, poetry, science and technology can be executed in the museum's workshop. This museum is all about active participation.
Own ideas
The children can present their own ideas. Together with artists or experts the children will execute these ideas, either individually or in groups. If a project meets certain quality standards it will be exhibited in the museum. Various activities are organized for children of various ages.
School visits
The museum also visits schools. The children are the ‘museum staff’ and conduct tours for their classmates. They also conduct a practical class for visitors. The children's museum will remain in the school for at least four weeks.
Workshops
The museum organizes exhibitions and workshops. It has a studio for visual art and a ‘discover and design’ room for technically creative subjects. The Van Kinderen Museum has afternoon and evening activities for child care organizations, parents and public.
