Marcello’s Art Gallery
In their gallery and studio located on Koningin Emmakade. The well-known "The Hague" artist couple Marcello & Els give Art lessons in their studio, which is renowned for its informal and relaxed atmosphere. The emphasis of the programme is on painting and drawing. In a material of your choice, we deal with subjects such as; still life, portrait, life drawing and landscape. For the more experienced among you, we can adjust the course outline, to suit your requirements. Upon discussion, we'll do our utmost to accommodate your requests. By viewing a range of exhibitions and listening to lectures from visiting experts. We will explore subjects such as form and colour, knowledge of materials and even Art philosophy. In the springtime, we plan an Art excursion (subject to the number of participants). The year closes at the end of June with the ‘School's Out' exhibition at the Galerie HAAGS. This is a display of various pieces of the students' work.
Just a little different..
Marcello and Els believe that Art is much more than just painting, drawing or sculpting. For instance, Music, Literature and Dance belong to the Arts too, as you may already know. However, how about wine, gourmet cuisine, sport, design and advertisements, or even Hollywood movies? For Marcello and Els they all can be classed as Art. It's not just a matter of good observation and perception. But also listening, tasting and feeling as well. Marcello and Els will take you into the world and the lives of different artists. Their classes will improve your knowledge of Art, culture and the beautiful (and meaningful) things in life.
Programme
In groups of a maximum of 10, you can follow a programme guided by Marcello & Els. The small group guarantees intensive and personal guidance, as well as maximum attention. The class dates correspond with the Dutch school vacations and will be given on Wednesday evenings. If there's sufficient interest, alternative days for the lessons may be possible. Besides painting and drawing, other tantalising activities are offered. Guest teachers will explain the usage of different materials and discuss fascinating subjects like Art philosophy. The annual Art excursion is an interesting experience and the wine tasting event, a genuine surprise. We also offer a true investment in taste, by dining at a top chef's restaurant.
Materials
During the course you can get acquainted with different materials and techniques. Such as, using acrylic paint and charcoal or even sculpting and etching. Final Exhibition At the end of the year the best works of every participant will be exhibited (and offered for sale...) at Galerie HAAGS. The exhibition will be at the end of June / beginning July. This marks the end of the course and of the season at Galerie HAAGS.
